Fresh Produce Consortium of Kenya (FPC Kenya) influences and advocates for a conducive National and international business environment, Policies, tariffs and trade agreements on behalf of its members and the horticulture Industry in Kenya. This is done through public and private partnerships at both local and international level.
We represent horticultural producer interests to government, competent authorities, relevant stakeholder working committees and development task forces aimed at improving horticultural value chains. Through contacts with companies in different regions around the world, we become conduits of information and collaboration for our membership
With a rich connection to both local and international markets, and owing to the fact that farmers are not adequately linked to these markets, FPC Kenya automatically plugs that limitation, and offer market Access & Linkage services to smallholder farmers in the horticultural sector. We establish market requirements and where possible, conduct technical trainings covering specific areas such as food safety, hygiene and sanitation, safe use of pesticides, harvesting and post-harvest handling methods.
FPC Kenya understands the importance of agriculture as the backbone of the economy of Kenya. We provide a one-touch solution to agribusiness entrepreneurs, right from professional advice on venture choice, feasibility study (including land and natural resources), cost-benefit analysis to business plan, and overall farm management. For increased productivity, farmers need to be well equipped technically with knowledge and information relevant to their practice. With increase in market surveillance and continuous employment of stringent market requirement by EU, it is very prudent to equip farmers periodically with the most recent market requirements.
